Hello! It’s Ashley with Property by Ashley and I just wanted to pop in and share with you guys some quick tips on how to stay level headed during the process of purchasing or selling a home. These tips are applicable to both buyers and sellers. Sometimes you may be doing both at the same time and that can be extra stressful.
My personal personality is that I try to just stay level headed and calm at all times because stressing out doesn’t do anybody any good, right? It’s detrimental to your health. It affects the people around you. It doesn’t change or help the situation. So these are just some general life tips that I live by.
I think in the grand scheme of things, it is important to remember that this is something that is great. You’re purchasing a home and you’re going to move into this beautiful space. Home ownership is a great thing. It’s an amazing accomplishment and something to be really proud of. And obviously it’s going to be stressful. So if you go into that just knowing that the outcome is going to be something that you can’t really compare to anything else, then it’s all worth it. So I would start with a mindset of that appreciation that you’re even able to go through this journey
Something that I constantly preach is to trust the people that work with you and that are working for you. Trust that they’re going to be professionals and that they’re going to take care of you and guide you through the process. So obviously lean on them, lean on your realtor, lean on your lender, the people that you’re going to be working the closest with throughout the process, your significant other, or if you’re buying a home by yourself, your family. People that have maybe gone through the process before, but trust your professionals because they know what they’re doing. As professionals, we do this every day. We’ve gone through these processes several times. So, if an appraisal comes in low, don’t worry, we’ll figure it out. And if we don’t get the home that you wanted, it only means that it wasn’t meant for you. I’m a firm believer that whatever is meant for you will be yours.
I think it’s also important to remember that this process is only temporary. Hopefully only 30 days of signing loan docs and going through that process. It can be stressful if something happens during your loan approval process or you don’t know if you have time to get and sign all these DocuSigns. These are just things that are necessary to purchase a home and it doesn’t have to be stressful. You can just roll with the punches of it all.
I think a large stress, which is common, is obviously you’re spending a lot of money. That is a big commitment. So if you’re not ready for that commitment, then don’t make it. It’s important to understand the commitment that you’re making when purchasing a home. Home ownership is different, right? If something breaks, you’re responsible for it. If something goes wrong with the home, you’re responsible for it. But that’s why we get home inspections. That’s why we have a home warranty. There’s things to protect you.
So I think that my overall summary is just to try to really be happy about it. I mean, it’s easier said than done, I know that, but it’s a great thing and you should be proud of yourself and really just try so hard to focus on the fact that this is something great for you.And yeah, you might have to sign a million electronic documents. So whatever, you’re getting a home, right? Yeah, you might have to provide an additional pay stub every couple of weeks or bank statement transaction histories to your lender. Or you might have a home inspection that doesn’t come out exactly how you want it, but there’s always a way to handle every situation.
So I hope that’s helpful. And I hope that you guys take my advice and if not, and you want to go crazy and stress out and completely lose your mind, you can do that too. If that’s totally your style. Everyone is different, but I hope that you do remember that this is a positive thing for you and your family and that you take it in stride and you really soak in all of the greatness that’s happening.
